![]() ![]() I got a new iPhone (first timer) and have tried at least 5 times to get ALL my messages (both sent and received) to my new iPhone. Move to iOS app does not transfer my sent messages from android to new iPhone I have a text message thread between myself and my husband on my android (Samsung Galaxy S7) that goes all the way back to the day we met. After wasting hours and hours of my time, is my only option really to spend an extra $50? All because Apple's development team is too incompetent to do what a low budget 3rd party app easily can? What a great introduction to iPhones that totally doesn't destroy my confidence and attitude towards Apple products. I've never had an issue like this with an android phone in 12 years, and currently I can't even start using my new iPhone because there's no way to use the "Move to iOS" app after you set the phone up. I'm debating whether I should just return this phone and get the Galaxy S22. Yet Apple can't manage the same?įor a company with a net worth of $3 TRILLION DOLLARS in 2022, this is embarrassingly pathetic of Apple and screams of incompetence. Apparently you can buy 3rd party programs for $50 that'll transfer everything in a span of minutes. Looking online it appears that this is a known and ongoing problem for a while now with many people having identical issues. The text messages that did go through appeared to be the same ones both times. Almost everything transferred except for the majority of my text messages. I cancelled the process and finished setting up the phone both times. I try the whole process again yesterday evening and when I woke up still at 1% remaining. I go to bed and wake up the next morning and it's still at 1% remaining. Way slower than I was expecting from Apple software, but oh well. The initial transfer estimate was 2 hours which was a little long but didn't seem too bad. Seemed a little odd, but it worked and the phones started transferring data. After reading a few reddit forums I found out that to get the app to work I needed to delete all home WiFi networks from my Android, turn off mobile data, connect the phones together using the app, disconnect from the temporary WiFi network that the iPhone will create to transfer, then reconnect with the password being the name of the temporary WiFi network. ![]() When I first attempted to transfer the phones would connect, and then just sit there authenticating without ever getting started. After spending 2 days trying to transfer my content from my Galaxy S10 to an iPhone 13 Pro using Apple's "Move to iOS" app, i'm beyond frustrated at the amount of time wasted and severely unimpressed with Apple software and the competency of their programmers. After 12 years on android phones I finally decided to make the switch to an iPhone. ![]()
